Interested in joining Maryland Blaze Track Club? We're here to help.

Maryland Blaze is an elite youth track and field program serving athletes in the Baltimore area. Our USATF-certified coaches develop athletes at every level, from first-timers learning the fundamentals to experienced competitors preparing for national championships like the AAU Junior Olympics.

We hold tryouts primarily in June for the upcoming track season. No prior track experience is required, but all athletes go through our evaluation process.

Maryland Blaze trains throughout Baltimore County. Our primary facilities for spring and summer track seasons are MedStar Sports Performance Center in Timonium and Johnny Unitas Stadium Track @ Towson University. Specific locations vary by season, age group, and training level. Your coach will share full details once your athlete is accepted into the program.
How Tryouts Work

1. Submit This Form

Start by completing the tryout interest form on this page. A coach will follow up within a few business days.

2. Attend an Information Session

Join a virtual meeting to learn about the program, training expectations, and what it means to be part of the Blaze family.

3. Evaluation Clinic

Your athlete will participate in an in-person evaluation where our coaches assess fundamentals, coachability, and fit for the program.

4. Orientation and Meet & Greet

Accepted athletes and families attend orientation to meet coaches, learn about the season ahead, and connect with other Blaze families.

5. Uniform Try-Ons

Get fitted for team gear before the season begins.

6. Commitment Day

Official welcome to the team. This includes photos, swag bags, and media day for all new athletes.
Performance Standards
Maryland Blaze maintains two levels of performance standards to support athlete development. Team Standards represent the baseline performance levels expected for competition. Elite Standards identify athletes ready for invitational meets, national qualifiers, and "A" relay selections. Athletes who meet Elite Standards train with our Elite Team.

Program Standards & Code of Conduct Applies to all athletes and parents
  • Every member of the Maryland Blaze family has a duty to represent the program with integrity on the track, in the stands, and online. Membership is a privilege, and conduct that reflects negatively on the program will not be tolerated.
  • We expect all athletes and parents to show up, work hard, and treat others with respect. Unexcused absences, poor sportsmanship, and harassment of any kind are violations of program standards. So is illegal activity or substance use of any kind. On social media and in electronic communication, the standard is simple: if it isn't positive, don't post it.
  • Parent misconduct is held to the same standard as athlete misconduct.
  • Violations may result in suspension or dismissal from the program.
Quick Answers
  • Does my child need experience? No. We welcome athletes at every level. Our evaluation focuses on effort, attitude, and coachability as much as current ability.
  • What if my athlete is on another team? We can help you navigate club transfers in accordance with AAU and USATF rules. Mention it in the form and we'll walk you through it.
